Messages arrive late
Allo uses a radio network instead of the internet. A message can therefore sometimes take longer to arrive than you may expect from regular messaging apps.
This does not automatically mean that something is wrong.
Why can a message take longer?
A message may go directly to the recipient, but it may also travel through one or more steps in the Allo radio network.
Delays can increase because of:
- a long distance between devices;
- a weak radio signal;
- several steps or repeaters;
- heavy traffic on the radio network;
- obstacles such as concrete, steel or other buildings;
- an unfavourable position of the device or antenna.
Allo may also retry sending when receipt is not confirmed immediately.
What can you do?
If messages consistently take much longer than expected:
- place the device higher up;
- place it closer to a window;
- keep it away from large metal objects;
- try another place in the building;
- check that the antenna is attached securely.
Do you regularly have problems at the same location? Report this to your Allo administrator. The coverage of the radio network may need to be checked there.
Still not solved?
If these steps do not solve the problem, contact your Allo administrator.
Include:
- what you were trying to do;
- what you see in the app;
- where the problem occurs;
- the name or number of the Allo device;
- a screenshot of the error message, if available.
