The range is less than expected
Radio range is strongly affected by the environment. Two devices may communicate over a much greater distance outdoors than when they are deep inside different buildings.
First try another location
Move the Allo device and test again.
Preferably try:
- a higher position;
- a place near a window;
- another side of the building;
- more distance from metal;
- a position where the antenna has more open space.
Even moving the device a few metres can make a difference.
Watch out for obstacles
Materials such as concrete and metal can significantly weaken radio signals.
A device in a basement, technical room, lift shaft or metal cabinet will therefore often have less range than the same device near a window or on a higher floor.
See also Antenna and range for more information about positioning the device and antenna.
Test again
After moving the device, send a short test message to the same recipient.
If the connection works at the new location, the original position was probably the main cause.
Is reliable coverage at this location still needed? Contact your Allo administrator. A repeater or another network arrangement may improve coverage.
Still not solved?
If these steps do not solve the problem, contact your Allo administrator.
Include:
- what you were trying to do;
- what you see in the app;
- where the problem occurs;
- the name or number of the Allo device;
- a screenshot of the error message, if available.
